About the Work

Pleiadiandapus

Pleiadiandapus marked Terence's return to painting after a nearly two-year hiatus and became the source of inspiration for the series of works that followed throughout 2021. It was also the first painting containing nudity that he publicly shared, making the work a personal expression of liberation and the release of long-held inhibitions.

Raised Catholic, Terence's relationship with depicting nudity had often been intertwined with feelings of sexual shame and suppression. One early memory that comes to mind is getting in trouble in the first grade at Catholic elementary school for drawing a naked woman. Despite these early associations, the female form has fascinated and inspired Terence from a very young age. In Pleiadiandapus, the nude figure becomes not an image of shame, but one of freedom, openness, embodiment, and self-liberation.

The painting also carries the energetic associations of the Pleiades and the Pleiadians. The woman depicted is a Pleiadian on another world within the Pleiades, surrounded by an otherworldly pink ocean. Pleiadians are high-vibrational extraterrestrial beings originating from the Pleiades star cluster. They are benevolent, Nordic-looking humanoids who serve as spiritual guardians of humanity. They are associated with unconditional love and assist in raising humanity's frequency and expanding human consciousness. Pleiadians mated with humanity's early ancestors. All humans have Pleiadian DNA. The Archangels, including Michael, Gabriel, Raphael, Uriel, and others, were Pleiadians who appeared to humanity in the guise of angels.

The octopus introduces another layer of esoteric symbolism. The octopus represents deep intuition, transformation, adaptability, fluidity, hidden intelligence, and the ability to move through unfamiliar realities without becoming rigid. It represents the ability to navigate what is obscure, suppressed, or unknown. As an oceanic creature, it is associated with the subconscious, emotion, mystery, and the unseen depths of existence. Its soft body can reshape itself to pass through seemingly impossible spaces, while its skin can alter its color and texture, making the octopus an archetype of transmutation, shape-shifting, and freedom from fixed form.

Much of its nervous system extends throughout its arms, giving it a decentralized form of intelligence that symbolizes multidimensional perception and consciousness operating through many channels at once. Its eight arms carry associations with infinity, renewal, balance, manifestation, and the continuous cycles of creation and dissolution. The octopus also embodies intelligence without rigidity, the ability to remain soft while retaining power, to adapt without losing the self, and to navigate the unknown through intuition rather than resistance. In Pleiadiandapus, the Pleiadian woman riding the great tentacle brings these energies together, representing liberation from inhibition, surrender without helplessness, freedom from limitation, and the ability to move through strange and unexplored realms with intuition, trust, fluidity, sexual and creative energy and expanded consciousness.
